One disadvantage of wet food is that it has a shorter shelf life once the packaging has been opened. After opening, it should be stored covered in the refrigerator and consumed as soon as possible. It should also be fresh in the food bowl and eaten quickly to prevent it from going off.
In contrast, dry food has a long shelf life and can be stored at room temperature for longer periods of time. It is also easy to measure out, simple to serve and can remain in the bowl throughout the day without deteriorating. It can contribute to dental health thanks to the dog chewing on the firm kibbles.

3. No sudden changes of food
If you are planning to change your dog’s food, make sure that you do this gradually to ensure that its intestinal flora has time to get used to it. When switching food, start off with around a third of the new food, and then increase the proportion continuously over a period of 10 days until finally the dog only has the new food.
